Original message from DP Staxx frontman:Yo, Kids. B-Shorty is Blake Lewis. It was a pleasure workin’ with Blake over the last few years at our Soul United events and the Jet Deck (RIP). While I’ll miss his amazing presence at our underground events, I’m so glad he’s right where he belongs - headin’ to #1 with a bullet. I hope yall dig Blake Lewis & the Staxx Brothers in Myspace Ho’s, from our always infamous MILFstock IV at WSU Pullman. It’s all in good fun, and to me the irony is that we musicians are the real myspace HOS. So no disrespect LADIES, and remember. . .Staxx Brothers are for THE CHILDREN (ODB RIP). We never put our myspace page on the video so here it is: Myspace.com/thestaxxbrothers. Check out our Fiona Apple Remix, Diamonds, and look for new album The 12th St. Blues (May 12th) at a Block Party near you. GO BLAKE!!!!!!!!! DP Staxx

just got the pictures from last night up! here's a brief recap of last night. :) we got there a little later than we wanted (just before 6pm) because traffic was SO awful. we hung around outside and chatted with a few blaker girls and then went to grab our seats. blake had given seats to andrea, my boyfriend, and me. they were on the first level in the 2nd row. the seats were good, but not great for pictures. so we figured you've all seen lots of great concert pics so we'd just take more backstage. the concert was awesome and blake was the best (well, we're a little biased lol). the crowd went CRAZY for him. it was awesome. he even did a Blaker Girl shoutout partway thru. he told me afterwards it was the only time he's done that since we were there. :) everyone sounded and looked great. it was really fun to see them all performing again. after the show we headed backstage to say hi to blake and everyone else. blake was swamped (of course) so we made the rounds to see everyone else. first we saw chris sligh and we were excited to see each other because we hadn't really seen each other since top 20 (i saw him for about 2 seconds at the finale). twe talked to phil after that. hen we saw jordin, who also had a huge line around her. she looked fantastic and was really nice to everyone. we saw sharlotte, our favorite "background vocalist", and she was saying how great seattle is and how she wants to come back. then we went to see lakisha because my boyfriend developed a crush on her during the concert. lol. she was great and remembered me from my trips to LA. we headed over to wait in line for blake and i was laughing because it felt weird to wait in line to talk to one of my best friends! he was great, of course, and gave us big hugs and thanked us for being there. we then headed outside near the busses so he could show us the new Ford he'd gotten that day. he let his friend, brad, drive it around the block to check it out. during this time we filmed Blaker Girl shoutouts from blake, c-rich, and sligh (COMING SOON!). they were hilarious. they boys kept heading over to the fans (there were SOOO many people!) to sign autographs and take pictures. the boys were going to head on the bus for some pizza so we got going. dallas (blake's dad) took blake's car home for safe keeping until the concert is over. all in all, a great night. it was so amazing to see blake performing in front of all those screaming fans. it's pretty cool to see your friend realize his dreams. i'm just excited for when i get to see him for more than 5 minutes again. haha love you guys!!! hope you enjoy the pics. :) xoxo kristi the blaker girls
LOL! The girl who yelled, Blake you're hottt!!! was funny... Import.flv (1.5 MB)

Original message from Andrea (co-founder of The Blaker Girls): Here's an article written about Blake in The Nordic
News, the newspaper for Inglemoor High School (where Blake graduated
from in 1999). It's a cute article and I hope you all enjoy it!

The Blaker Girls
"Blake-mania takes over the Northwest" - by Helena Prikyan
The city of Seattle has attracted national attention - not for its rain
or great coffee, but for its musical talent. Two of the last 10
finalists on American Idol, a TV search for the next new pop star, are
from the one and only "Emerald City".
The talk of the town seems to be Blake Lewis, who may be the most
unique talent to appear on the show. Lewis blends beat boxing with
different genres of music to create a truly original style, something
judge Randy Jackson dubbed "Blake-izing".
This exceptional artist comes from our very own high school. "He was
involved in every choir program Inglemoor offered, and was very
passionate about them," recalled Blake's father Dallas Lewis. And it
didn't stop there; Lewis revealed his potential by taking part in all
kinds of musical activities, such as vocal competitions and becoming
Seattle's beat boxing champion.
"He was in many funny comedies and musicals. He did Shakespeare, sand
and danced," said his mother Dinah Lewis, "He had amazing talent."
After graduating from Inglemoor in '99, Lewis broke into the music
scene by joining a capella group Kickshaw. The five talented singers
who made up the group toured the Northwest, playing almost every type
of event imaginable. Each time they gave audiences a unique "mouth
music" experience, creating the sound of instruments using only their
mouths. Their upbeat, rhythmic style and creative vocal arrangements
made for exciting dance music. After the group's disbandment, Lewis
became a solo act and played with different bands, eventually hitting
the American Idol stage where he still keeps their spirited sound alive
by delivering an energetic performance week after week.
"He's not the best singer, but he's the most talented," expressed
senior Justin Y, "He knows how to entertain the people, and knows what
they want to hear." Perhaps it's his eye-catching stage presence, or
the magical way Lewis can take a song from any time period, "Blake-ize"
it with a mix of new rhythms and beat boxes, and end up with something
that people of all ages and musical tastes can enjoy. Or as his mother
says, "He's real; he brings 2007 into each song." Whatever the reason
may be, Lewis is clearly doing something right, for his enormous fan
base and endless support suggests he has what it takes to get to the
top.
"I think his uniqueness puts him ahead of the competition. He has the
potential to go really far on the show," says junior Katlyn S.
Kristi R., a childhood friend of Lewis, undoubtedly agrees. She
graduated from Inglemoor class of 2000, just one year after Lewis.
"Right after Blake's first audition, me and some friends joked around,
and said we should start a fan club," said Kristi in an exclusive
Nordic News interview. "But as he kept progressing through the show, we
thought, huh, we really should start one!"
So Kristi and her friends became serious and created a fan club called
"The Blaker Girls," complete with a website and Blake Lewis
paraphernalia. Although The Blaker Girls had a humble beginning, their
success has catapulted; the club has become wildly popular, topping
3000 members nationwide, 15,000 website hits, and about $4000 in
merchandise sales.
The website provides a multitude of information for all the Lewis fans
out there and gives support not only to Lewis, but also to a charity
close to his heart. "To honor his friends Brad B. and Heather K. (both
Inglemoor alums), a couple who were both diagnosed with lymphoma last
year, Blake wanted to give back and support cancer research," explained
Kristi. "At Blake's request, we've aligned ourselves with Children's
Hospital in Seattle and 50% of all merchandise profits will go toward
cancer research at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in
Seattle, WA. So far we've raised about $1200 for Children's"
Lewis may seem too good to be true, but he is genuinely an
extraordinary person. Anyone who has known him is quick to describe his
kind, giving nature, and say without hesitation that he deserves to win
the show. "He plays the drums, guitar, and piano," said Kristi. "He
also writes, produces, and creates his own music. No one deserves this
more than him; he has truly workjed hard to hone his talents."
The Blaker Girls however, aren't the only people in the city supporting
Lewis in a positive manner. Out entire community has rightfully treated
Lewis like a VIP and provided him with a lot of support. The city of
Bothell, for example, recognized his talent and presented him with a
most unusual honor: April 11 has been officially proclaimed Blake Lewis
Day.
Linda Hamilton, a mentor and old voice coach of Lewis' loves the
support. "Blake is talented and numble. He's just a cool kid. The
community is giving back to him and he has given them so much. It's
just awesome."
With unbeatable suave, smashing good looks, his entire hometown
rallying behind him, and growing support from all across the country,
Lewis has a promising future ahead of him - both on and off the show.
Kristi summed it up best, "Blake should win American Idol because he is
a breath of fresh air not only on the show but on the music charts as
well. he can sing, dance and beat box; there is nothing like him out
there. He is something exciting and new that we've never heard before."
Good Luck, Blake!
